Update 6.18.26
Operation Relocation, part 6: Sara and Raegan are joined by interns and friends from the Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums as the packing continues at the Anoka County Historical Society.
It’s all happening! The food license application with Anoka County, scheduling inspections, getting quotes for security systems, installing smoke alarms, tinkering with small maintenance items, bringing in a new WiFi connection, sorting out the good dishes from the uber-good dishes, sitting on all the furniture like Goldilocks, and deciding what we like best…you name it!
The other thing we’re well aware of is that history geeks like chasing dead people more than we like cooking eggs. Our friends along Anoka’s Main Street and beyond have expressed excitement about partnering with ACHS to provide breakfast foods for our guests (that is, 50% of the B&B!). There’s also an intriguing idea called “Ticknor Tokens” guests could spend downtown — more information coming soon!
In two weeks, the museum at 2135 Third Ave will need to close except for research appointments scheduled in July and August. We’re running out of time before the Ghost Tours begin in September to get the collection ready to move (especially if we want to see everyone at the County Fair and Nowthen Theshing Show). Look left for a neat way to enjoy the Ticknor grounds, support ACHS, and have some space all at the same time.
For more day-to-day experiences as we build up to an open house at Riverfest and a ribbon-cutting on September 10, check out our blog posts, podcast, and, of course, www.AnokaCountyHistory.org.
